# Athens: map, what to do and when to go

In Athens, the Acropolis, a 156-meter rock with temples from the 5th century BC, appears above the concrete buildings downtown. Capital of Greece, it has been inhabited for at least five thousand years, and the region of Attica holds about 3.8 million people, nearly a third of the country.
