# London: map, what to do and when to go

London is made of old villages, with no street grid or single center, and it is best understood by walking from one neighborhood to another. Capital of the United Kingdom, founded by the Romans around the year 47, it has about 8.9 million people in 32 boroughs, on both sides of the Thames.
