# Miami: map, what to do and when to go

Miami is a city where life happens in Spanish as much as in English, and the postcard beaches sit in another municipality, across the bay. Incorporated in 1896, it has about 490,000 residents in a county of 2.8 million and sits on porous limestone, between Biscayne Bay and the Everglades.
