# San Francisco: map, what to do and when to go

In San Francisco, the hills are steep, fog arrives almost every late afternoon, and the cold calls for a jacket even in sun. The city has 121 km² at the tip of a California peninsula, more than forty hills, and geological faults that knocked it down in 1906 and shook it in 1989.
