Who it is for
For anyone who wants two port cities in a few days, with a short flight between India and Sri Lanka.
Not for anyone expecting to see all of Sri Lanka, since the trip stays in Colombo.
The strategy
Mumbai and Colombo are a short flight apart. The order starts with the bigger city and ends with the smaller one, which can be seen in a few days.
What you will see
- Gateway of India, Mumbai. A 26 m yellow basalt arch designed by George Wittet, built between 1913 and 1924 to mark George V's visit in 1911.
- Galle Face Green, Colombo. A strip of lawn of about 5 hectares with 500 m of sea frontage, opened by Governor Henry Ward in 1859 as a racecourse and golf course.
