Who it is for
For anyone who wants lakes, mountains and the end of the continent, with whole days outdoors.
Not for anyone who dislikes the cold, since even in summer Ushuaia calls for a coat.
The strategy
Bariloche comes first, with the lakes, and Ushuaia comes next, a flight away. Outdoor days depend on the weather, so each city has a buffer day.
What you will see
- Llao Llao, Bariloche. Bustillo's hotel, reopened in 1940 after the original wooden building burned down in 1939, plus the Capilla San Eduardo (1938), all in stone and timber.
- Museo Marítimo, Ushuaia. The five radial pavilions of the old reoffenders' prison, built by the inmates themselves between 1902 and 1920 and shut down in 1947.
