Who it is for
For anyone who wants live music, Southern food and the beach in one week.
Not for anyone travelling from June to November without following the hurricane season.
The strategy
New Orleans comes first, with three nights of music, and Miami closes the trip with beach and the Everglades. A two-hour flight connects the two.
What you will see
- Frenchmen Street, New Orleans. Three blocks in the Marigny with a dozen music venues: The Spotted Cat, d.b.a., Snug Harbor, Blue Nile.
- Art Deco Historic District, Miami. About 800 buildings from 1930–1942 between 5th and 23rd streets in Miami Beach, with symmetrical facades, concrete “eyebrows” over the windows, and restored neon.
