Who it is for

For anyone who wants three countries in a few days, with punctual trains and mountains along the way.

Not for anyone on a tight budget, since Zurich is among the most expensive cities in Europe.

The strategy

Three countries in one week: Zurich, Munich and Milan, with the Alps along the way, by train or by bus.

What you will see

  • Uetliberg, Zurich. The city's home mountain, 871 m, reached by the S10 train from the Hauptbahnhof in about 20 minutes plus a 10-minute walk.
  • Marienplatz, Munich. The central square since 1158 and the neo-Gothic city hall, built in three stages between 1867 and 1909 by Georg von Hauberrisser, with an 85 m tower and an elevator up to the lookout.
  • Duomo di Milano, Milan. Gothic cathedral begun in 1386 in Candoglia marble, with 135 spires and about 3,400 statues; the golden Madonnina, from 1774, stands at 108.5 m.
