Who it is for
For a short trip with sea, mountains and two relaxed cities.
Not for anyone who wants guaranteed sunshine, since it rains a lot from October to April.
The strategy
The proposal starts in Vancouver and continues to Seattle. Compare rail and road, including border checks and the documents that apply to you. If taking the train from Vancouver, follow the operator’s arrival guidance for checks before boarding. Include station or road travel, getting to the hotel and a break on the transfer day, and adapt outings to the weather.
What you will see
- Stanley Park, Vancouver. A 405-hectare park opened in 1888 on a forested peninsula that was never entirely logged, with about half a million trees and traces of the Squamish village of Xwayxway, emptied in the early 20th century.
- Pike Place Market, Seattle. A public market opened on August 17, 1907, to cut out the middleman between producer and consumer; today it draws about 10 million visits a year across nine levels built into the hillside.
