Who it is for
For anyone who wants Southeast Asia's big cities and to finish in Ubud, among temples and craft villages.
Not for anyone who wants a beach at every stop, since the Bali stop is Ubud, inland.
The strategy
Start in Singapore and continue to Kuala Lumpur, then compare flights to Jakarta and Bali. Four bases in ten days mean setting aside part of each moving day for travel and reaching your accommodation. Ubud comes last, after the three big cities.
What you will see
- Gardens by the Bay, Singapore. About 100 hectares of park on reclaimed land, opened in 2012.
- Menara KL, Kuala Lumpur. A 421 m telecommunications tower opened in 1996 on top of Bukit Nanas, whose base preserves the last patch of tropical forest reserve inside the city.
- Istiqlal Mosque, Jakarta. The largest mosque in Southeast Asia, with capacity for more than 200,000 people, built between 1961 and 1978.
- Puri Saren Agung, Ubud (Bali). Home of the princely family since the 18th century, rebuilt after the 1917 earthquake with gates and reliefs attributed to the sculptor I Gusti Nyoman Lempad.
